Who Do You Think I Am? By Dawn McLaughlin; Ill. Hannah Rowe; Positively Publishing Kids

I love everything about this sweet book of soul-accepting affirmations accompanied by beautifully rendered pastel pencil drawings of children being everything that they can be. It is 100% a feel good book that embraces diversity, acceptance and creates an endless stream of possibilities a child can be from their moods, feelings, sensations and dreams. I can’t get enough of the doe-eyed children illustrated by Hannah Rowe, a young artist. Each unique set of eyes tells their story. Everyone who reads this book will be able to connect with the characters. I love this concept of empowering children with tools for creative self-expression and success. It is sure to aid in creating more mindful, resilient and positive people. Highly recommend.

Gabi Garcia has done it again! I Can Do Hard Things, which comes in an adorable mini tote bag along with two affirmation posters, is an engaging and relevant picture book that combines a simple story with strong positive affirmations to help kids deal with everyday stressors, some large and some small. The illustrations depict a beautiful rainbow of diverse characters using positive affirmations to accept feelings, try harder, not being afraid to fail or stand up for what is right and all-in-all learning to embrace uniqueness and acceptance is supreme. A major take away from this book is that what you say matters, whether it is to yourself or to someone else and above all, be kind. IMG_7322

I highly recommend this book to families and school communities alike. Libraries should have a section for mindfulness books specifically aimed at children. I know I am going to embrace this book and share it with the children I have the opportunity to work with through my children’s yoga program. It’s fun and engaging nature make it an easy fit as a gateway into mindfulness for young children.

The Present Is A Gift written & Illustrated by Elchanan Ogorek

This is a great gateway book into mindfulness for children. The book uses strong, positive affirmations drawing on very creative connections to animals and their inherent qualities and how that ties into mindfulness through thoughts and actions. The art work is fun and quirky and the animals are really enchanting. This book makes mindfulness very accessible for the young. It is a wonderful addition to the mindfulness for kids books! I highly recommend it.

This is truly one of the best children’s mindfulness books that I have come across. The book is full of thoughts that pique the interest and understanding the art of mindfulness is easily accessible for children and is written into lovely, flowing rhyming sequences. The artwork is adorable. I love the textured painting juxtaposed onto photographic backgrounds and sprinkled with computer-generated flowers. It’s completely endearing! The additional Magic Word cards are beautiful affirmations for calm, clear thinking, positive feelings of self love and are perfect addition to this wonderful book. I really enjoyed this book and I know I will use it in my kids classes. It is fun, educational and practical. I highly recommend it!
